Jaffna council to convene in March

Ms. Sarojini Yogeswaran, the TULF's mayor designate of the Jaffna Municipal Council (JMC) told the Jaffna TamilNet correspondent today that she plans to convene the council in the first week of March.

She said that the other parties whose members were elected to the JMC will be notified tomorrow about the date of the inaugural meeting.

Ms. Yogeswaran said that she wants to determine an auspicious time to hold the first meeting of the JMC.

But she is yet to find a good astrologer sahe said. The Mayor designate has not got a phone and has faxed the Minister for Telecomunications, Mr. Mangala Samraweera about the matter.

She has asked the Sri Lankan President for 10 million rupees, mainly to repair roads Ms. Sarojini told the TamilNet correspondent.
