The suspect, Balachandran Uthayabawan, is said to be a member of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP). He was arrested in Trincomalee last month and produced in Trincomalee courts, the sources said. The suspect was brought from the Magazine prison in Colombo by air Sunday and handed over to the Jaffna prison chief. Prison officials Monday produced the suspect before the Jaffna Magistrate who ordered him to be remanded till Tuesday, the sources added.
