The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), chief constituent of the main opposition Peoples Alliance Monday said it has put off the special press briefing which was scheduled to be held Monday to announce its stand on the proposed Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) for Tuesday. Meanwhile President Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunge has been holding intensive consultation with leaders and constitutional experts of the SLFP and other allied parties, media sources said.

Former Foreign Minister and the Presidential international advisor Mr.Lakshman Kadirgamar is to hold the special press conference Tuesday on the ISGA, sources said.

Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge in the meantime said Sunday evening addressing the gathering at the opening event of the newly constructed Western Provincial Council (WPC) building complex that "extensive devolution of powers would be a solution for the northeast conflict."

Ms Kumaratunge said that she had received a copy of the ISGA proposal of the LTTE Sunday. She said further that she would discuss the proposed ISGA with her party leaders and activists and later with the Cabinet of Ministers and constitutional experts.
