Shortage of anti-tetanus vaccine in Jaffna
[TamilNet, Tuesday, 03 March 1998, 23:59 GMT]
Supplies of anti-tetanus vaccine for the first quarter of 1998 are yet to be received by Department of Health in the Jaffna District, said sources in Jaffna. The vaccine was not in the stock of medicines shipped for this period via an International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) vessel.
Unconfirmed reports from Colombo attributed the shortage of anti-tetanus vaccine in Jaffna to a shortage of this vaccine in the capital as well.
Meanwhile, health awareness programs for both OPD and resident patients in Jaffna are to be broadcast in the future over the public address system.
A public address system is to be sent from Colombo to the Jaffna hospital by the Ministry of Health for this purpose.
