Four suspects escaped from Trinco prison

Four Tamil youths who were arrested, allegedly for possessing fire arms, are reported to have escaped from Trincomalee prison, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, police said.

According to prison sources, the suspects had scaled the prison wall from behind while police personnel were guarding the front entrance of the prison.

A police team has been detailed to conduct further investigation into the incident, police in the eastern port town said.

Prison officials informed the Police Wednesday morning around 3.30 a.m. about the escape of the four suspects, the police said.
