Furuhovde to return as new SLMM Head

Maj. Gen (ret.) Trond Furuhovde will assume duties as the new head of the Nordic mission monitoring the ceasefire between the Liberation Tigers and the armed forces of Sri Lanka, Norwegian government said Friday. He will assume duties from 1 February 2004. Maj. Gen (ret) Furuhovde served as the first head of the monitoring mission from March 2002 to Feb. 2003. His successor was recalled by Norway following a complaint by Sri Lanka's President against him.

Gen. Maj. (ret.) Trond FuruhovdeMaj. Gen. (ret.) Tryggve Tellefsen, who served as the SLMM chief from March 2003 will assume duties as the head of mission of the temporary international presence in Hebron from 1 Feb. 2004, a press note from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo said Friday.
