Two fishermen were wounded when a Sri Lanka navy (SLN) vessel rammed their boat Tuesday night in the seas off Pt. Pedro in Jaffna. The injured fishermen were taken ashore by the SLN and admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. The fishermenís boat was rent asunder by the SLN vessel, according to relatives.
The sea off the coast of Pt. Pedro is heavily patrolled by the Sri Lanka navy.
The two fishermen, T. Lawrence, 48 and B. Gnanamani, 31, of Inparutty, a coastal suburb of Pt. Pedro town had a night lamp on their boat as instructed by the Sri Lanka army and navy. The lamps are intended to avoid collisions at night with Navy patrol craft in the sea, fishermen in Pt. Pedro said
