TNA MPs to decide on strategy in parliament

[TamilNet, Monday, 17 May 2004, 22:25 GMT]
The parliamentarians of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met at the parliament building Monday to discuss the strategy to follow during the election of the Deputy Speaker on Tuesday, but decided to meet again Tuesday morning to take a firm decision, a TNA MP said.

When TamilNet asked the TNA MP if the TNA would remain neutral during the election of Deputy Speaker, he said that the TNA was not planning to do so.

He also ruled out supporting the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), saying that as of now, it was not at all clear if the UPFA was genuinely interested in the peace process or only acting like it for the consumption of the donor nations.
