Large demo in Mannar against govt officials

More than six thousand persons including catholic priests marched and demonstrated in Mannar town Wednesday against senior Sri Lankan government officials. A memorandum stating that senior officials in Mannar are neglecting development work in the district, giving preference to outsiders in settlement schemes and are discriminating on the basis of religion.
The march, led by a large number Catholic priests, began from the St. Sebastian Church in Mannar town around 10.30 a.m. Wednesday.
Marchers carried slogans denouncing senior government officials for being partial to people from outside the district and for acting against Catholic interests in Mannar.
They handed over a memorandum to the Government Agent of Mannar at the district secretariat.
