Six Pt. Pedro fishermen said missing[TamilNet, Sunday, 18 July 2004, 09:44 GMT]Six fishermen who set out to sea on Friday, 16 July, from Inparutty, a coastal suburb on the outskirts of Pt. Pedro town in Jaffna, are missing relatives said. A search party returned empty handed, said a spokesman for the local fisheries society. The missing fishermen's families said they feared the worst, as some Indian trawlers that poach in the waters off Pt. Pedro may have attacked the three smaller fibre glass boats in which they had set out, as had happened once in the past. 12061 Related Articles: 15.07.04 Indian trawlers continue poaching in northern sea 28.05.04 Poaching by Indian fishermen discussed at conference 28.04.04 ‘Only self-government can help safeguard NE fisheries’
