Skirmish at Olumadu

One soldier was killed and four wounded when SLA troops constructing bunkers at Olumadu, 4 km east of Mankulam on the Mankulam-Mullaitheevu Road were attacked by the Liberation Tigers around 10.00 a.m. yesterday, said sources in Vavuniya.

Security sources who confirmed the Olumadu attack said that the attack was repulsed. No details of the casualties were given.

The injured SLA personnel were taken to Anuradhapura Hospital.

Meanwhile one SLA soldier on a road patrol at Peythalai in Valaichenai 30 km north of Batticaloa was injured in the foot when the automatic rifle he was carrying misfired around 9:30 a.m., said sources in Valaichenai.

The wounded soldier, Lankasena (23), was removed to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment. He was from the Peythalai SLA camp.
