Gurunagar sea sports meet held after 8 years

Sea sports meet was held in the Jaffna lagoon Friday after an interval of eight years. Swimming race and boat race were held at all levels with the permission of the Sri Lanka Army on a request made by Gurunagar United Progressive Front, sources said.

Hundreds of people witnessed the event, according to sources.

SLA also relaxed its restriction and allowed people to go through its checkpoints in the area without any checking, sources said.

Since 1996 the SLA did not allow the sea sports meet in Jaffna lagoon.
