Youths converge for Batticaloa Peace Convention

Hundreds of Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim youths, both boys and girls, from more than sixteen regions in Batticaloa district, assembled in Batticaloa town for a three day Youth Peace Convention from Friday to Sunday to stress the urgency for peace and unity between the communities, sources from Batticaloa said.

The youths held a procession from Gandhi square in Batticaloa town to St.Cecilia Girls School where tri-lingual discussions and cultural events took place Friday evening.

The youths will participate in community meetings in different villages throughout Saturday and Sunday, according to organizers of the event.
