Jaffna disappearances remain unsolved

Board of Investigation of the Ministry of Defence which was appointed by the SL government to inquire about the people in Jaffna who were reported missing after being arrested by the army submitted its findings and recommendations to the Sri Lankan President yesterday.

The board has said there is evidence that 16 of those persons who were reported missing in Jaffna since the SLA moved into the peninsula have been killed.

It has recommended that the government should institute legal proceedings against SLA personnel involved in 25 incidents in the peninsula pertaining to the disappearance of civilians in Jaffna.

Details of the Board's report are yet to be released to the press officially.
