Two army officials based in the Palaly military base of the Sri Lanka Army have lodged complaints with the Jaffna regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HCRSL) that they have been deprived of their legitimate promotion by the SLA command, human rights sources said.

The two army officials serving in the Jaffna district in the rank of captain for several years have also submitted their applications seeking promotions to the HRCSL, sources said.

HRCSL sources said they are receiving complaints from members of government security forces against their superiors about harassment and overlooking promotions.

HRCSL has conducted inquiries into several such complaints, sources said.
