Sri Lanka names 11 new envoys

The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) Saturday announced the names of eleven diplomats who are to be posted to various countries as Sri Lanka's envoys. Two Tamils and three Muslims are among those named, foreign ministry sources said.

Former Defence Secretary and Commissioner of Elections Mr.Chandrananda de Silva is to be the High Commissioner for Canada. Mr.K.Balapattebendi is to replace Mr.Janaka Perera in Australia and Mr.Janaka Perera will be the new Sri Lankan envoy to Indonesia, sources said.

Mr.W.S.Ratnavel will be new High Commissioner for Singapore, and Mr.Cassie Chetty for Malaysia.

Mr.Meelath Keeran will be the High Commissioner for Kenya, Mr.Ali Farook for Maldives and Mr.N.M.Junaid for United Arab Emirates.

Names of other new envoys follow: - Mr.S.P.Adugoda for Doha-Qatar, Ms Renuka de Seneviratne for United Kingdom, and Mr.A.P.Goonatilake for United States of America, sources said.
