[TamilNet, Wednesday, 08 December 2004, 11:49 GMT]
The opening ceremony of a factory that builds concrete blocks from cement was declared open in Kilinochchi Monday, sources from Vanni said. The effort was funded by The Economic Consultancy House (TECH) a Non-Governmental Non-Profit Sharing Organization registered with the Government of Sri Lanka.

Demand for building materials have been rising with increasing levels of levels of building constructions in the NorthEast and the new factory will help to satisfy some of the needs, said Mr Sugunan, Senior Director of TECH.

S Vijendra Kilinochchi district co-ordinator for TECH, presided the event.

President of TECH, Prof Navaratnarajah, Director Sundaramoorthy Mrs Selvaratnam and Mr Balachandran lit the ceremonial lamp.

These events were followed by ribbon cutting ceremony and starting the machinery at auspicious time.

Mr Sivapalamuhundan gave the vote of thanks to conclude the event.
