Three soldiers were killed, while no casualties were reported among the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), when the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) detachment at Nigasgoda came under attack by the LTTE around 9.00 p.m. on April 28, the Voice of Tigers (VoT) announced in its morning broadcast today.

The attack lasted 10 minutes and the camp was overrun and destroyed, said the broadcast.

The following items were captured by the LTTE: one 81mm mortar (with 37 shells), two RPGs, one AKLMG, four T-56-2 assault rifles, two high frequency communication sets, fifty 60mm shells, five 60mm para-shells and 3,375 7.62mm rounds, said VoT.

Sources in Trincomalee however confirmed that the attack on the night of April 28 in Trincomalee had taken place at Pansalgodella and that they were unaware of an attack at Nigasgoda.

Elsewhere, two members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were killed in a confrontation with the Sri Lanka Army at Ambagama in the Operation Jayasikurui area in the Vanni, said the VoT.

They were named as Captain Manimoli or Venthee (Sivasubramaniam Jegatheeswaran) of Trincomalee and Captain Sajeevan (M.Vigneswaran) also from Trincomalee, said the broadcast.
