Rocca goes to Kalmunai, Karaithivu

US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Ms. Christina Rocca, Tuesday met Tsunami refugees at a transit camp in Karaithivu, a large Tamil village 45 kilometres south of Batticaloa.

Christina RoccaShe distributed seven million rupees worth of tools to Tsunami affected masons, carpenters and iron smiths at Kalmunai Zaheera College.

The US official visited temporary housing for Muslims hit by Tsunami funded by USAID in Karavaakuveddai and Mettuveddai in Kalmunai.

Ms. Rocca was accompanied by the US ambassador in Colombo and other American embassy officials on her two hour visit.

She visited a Muslim school damaged by the Tsunami in the Kalmunai area.
