Veteran Tamil scholar 'Nanthi' dies

Professor C.Sivagnanasuntheram, a veteran Tamil scholar passed away in Jaffna Saturday afternoon after a brief illness at the age of 77. He wrote several Tamil literary works under pseudonym 'Nanthi', sources said.

He began his career as a Medical Officer of Health in the upcountry and later served in the same capacity in the Jaffna district. He thereafter joined the University of Jaffna as a lecturer and later became a Professor.

He was one of them worked for the establishment of the Medical Faculty in the Jaffna University.
