Eravur man arrested for possessing explosives

Mr. Mohamed Sayed, 39, was arrested by the Sri Lankan Police for alleged posession of explosives Saturday morning at Iyankerni. Police unearthed explosives kept buried beside a coconut tree in the compound of his home on Jinna Road, Eravur Police said.

Mr. Mohammed is a supporter of Mr. M.L.A.M Hizbullah, a former Lankan Minister and the Deputy President of National Unity Front (NUF), a breakaway faction of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, sources in Eravur said.

Eravur Police conducting investigations said that the arrest was made after the police discovered two powerful explosives following a tip off.
