A Hindu priest, Mr.Uruthirakurukkal Aravinthakumar (35), and his assistant, Mr.Sivagnanam, who were passing at that time on a motorbike were injured during the incident and were admitted to the Trincomalee general hospital, police said.

Mr.Aravinthakumar who was on the wheel with his assistant on pillion without stopping at the scene of incident had rushed to the Uppuveli Police and made a complaint. Thereafter the Uppuveli Police had taken the victims to the Trincomalee general hospital in their vehicle.

Hospital authorities said both were out of danger. However Mr.Sivagnanam sustained serious injuries, sources said.
