The civilians killed were attackers, the Police claimed. Details of the two travellers killed in police fire, were not available at the moment. The injured police constable was immediately admitted to the Chettikulam district hospital. He was later transferred to Anuradhapura hospital in a police ambulance. The sentry point of the Sri Lanka Police is located at Chettikulam junction along Mannar-Madawachchiya main road.
