Sri Lankan Tamil parties have expressed their wish to meet the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, to discuss issues related to the island's ethnic conflict, when he visits Sri Lanka to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Co- operation (SAARC) summit at the end of this month.

Ex-militant sources in Colombo confirmed today that they have asked Indian embassy officials to secure an appointment to meet the Mr. Vajpayee to discuss the current political situation, problems faced by the Tamil people and the expectations of the Tamil people.

However, the Indian Embassy in Colombo is yet to respond, they added.
