ITAK wins 35 Council seats in Trincomalee

Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi (ITAK) won one seat each in Kantalai PS, Seruvila PS, Morawewa PS, and Kinniya UC, two in Thamplakamam PS, three in Kuchchaveli PS and 4 in Muttur PS in addition to capturing power in the Trincomalee UC (10 seats), Trincomalee Town and Gravets PS (06) and Verugal PS (07 seats-uncontested).

Total number of councilors in the thirteen local authorities including two urban councils and eleven PS is 118.

The ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) captured power in five local councils- Gomarankadawela PS, Morawewa PS, Thampalakamam PS, Padavi Siripura PS, and Seruvila PS and the UNP in four councils- Kuchchaveli PS, Kinniya PS, Kantalai PS and Kinniya UC.

ITAK captured power in Trincomalee UC, Trincomalee PS and Verugal PS.

Independent Group 02 led by Mr.K.M.Thowfeek, a former Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) parliamentarian captured power in the Muttur PS.
