Fish-trader shot dead in Jaffna

Two unknown gunmen shot dead a fish-trader who ran fish market in Chulipuram in Valikamam Southwest in Jaffna district around 9:00 a.m. Thursday. The gunmen arrived in a motorbike, requested the trader to come out of the building, and escaped after shooting the trader at close range. This is the 17th killing to take place in Jaffna within a period of one week, media sources in Jaffna said.

The victim, Mr. Thavasi Thavachandran, 35, is from Kalladi, Chulipuram.

Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission officials rushed to the spot, sources said.
