SLA officer killed

A Sri Lankan Army (SLA) Major was killed and a soldier was wounded in a claymore mine

The SLA patrol was on a route clearing operation, sources said.

The army cordoned off the area following the attack and launced a search operation , the sources added.

Road traffic between Vavuniya and Mannar has been disrupted following the attack and all vehicles from Mannar have been stopped at the Thalladi SLA camp.

The Mannar-Vavuniya road was captured by the SLA during the 'Operation Edibale' early last year.
