Mixed signals from UNP on package

Sources in the UNP said today that the party is largely in agreement with the PA package which was submitted to Parliament last Friday with the suggestions of the other parties in the PSC as 'riders' except on the question of the unit of devolution.

It said that it is totally opposed to the idea of trifurcating the eastern province on the basis of the referenda as set out in the PA's proposal.
