Fourteen held in Pt. Pedro

Fourteen persons from Nelliyadi, near Pt. Pedro, 27 km from Jaffna, have been held since Friday by troops of the Pt. Pedro brigade of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), for allegedly harbouring two female members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), said sources in Jaffna.

The fourteen comprise members of two families and an individual. The members of one family are: C. S. Dharmalingam (45) and his children Desia (8), Mary Yaso (10), Arul Ruban (13), Arulraj (15), Dharshini (17).

The members of the other family are K. Mahesan (52), his wife M. Rasamma (45) and their children Sashikala (21), Niroshan (11), Vajith (12), Ishwarya (14) and Vajri (12).

Aalvan Vanniyasingham (50) who is not a member of these two families was also detained, said sources.
