The body of a young man was found with gun shot injuries at Gurunathar Shop Road in Alaiyadivembu in Akkaraipattu Police Division, in the Ampara District, around 7 a.m., Tuesday, police sources said.

The victim was identified as Veluppillai Mohanarasa, 25, from Kolavil. The body has been transferred to Akkaraipattu District Hospital for postmortem examinations, the sources said. Akkaraipattu police is conducting investigations.
