Police order Pesalai civilians to leave their houses

All Tamil families residing in Ward No: 01 of Pesalai in Mannar district Sunday sought refuge elsewhere in the area following the instruction of the Pesalai Police that they should leave their houses immediately. The instruction was issued following a grenade attack on the Pesalai Police Station located in Ward No: 01.

Pesalai Police charged that a grenade attack had come from houses in Ward No: 01.

About seventy five families left their houses. Some are staying in Pesalai church and others with their relatives' houses.

In that attack two policemen Jayantha Lal, 35, and Sisira Dissanayake, 36, were injured.
