Police bus damaged in claymore explosion, no casualty

A bus carrying about twenty policemen from Madawachchi to Anuradhapura was ambushed Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. at Ikkirigollawa in the Anuradhapura district. The claymore mine which was fixed on a tree along the road was detonated but it missed the target, police sources said.

The bus was slightly damaged. No one was injured in the blast.

A large number of policemen and soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) rushed to the scene of the blast from Anuradhapura and Madawachchi launched a cordon and search operation.

Two shirts worn by men, believed to be the attackers, were recovered from the site, Police said.
