Batticaloa unemployed graduates demand appointments

Unemployed graduates in the Batticaloa district Friday held a silent protest campaign at Batticaloa Gandhi Square demanding the government to recruit them into pubic service, Batticaloa District Unemployed Graduates' Union (BDUGU) organized the protest.

About four hundred graduates passed out from universities and Open University participated in the protest carrying placards.

BDUGU spokesman said that large number of vacancies exist in the government departments in the north east province. But those vacancies are filled against assurance given by government authorities. The authorities concerned should take immediate steps to recruit all unemployed graduates
