Sri Lanka Navy, Sea Tigers clash off Pulmoddai

Heavy fighting was reported in the seas off Pulmoddai, 41 km southeast of Mullaithivu, Sunday night. Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) claimed that the sea battle was fierce, lasted for five hours, and the SLN had inflicted heavy casualties to the Sea Tiger fleet.

The SLN claimed that around 25 LTTE vessels were spotted by the Sri Lanka Navy and claimed that 14 Sea Tiger vessels retreated after the hostilities off the coast of the eastern town of Pulmoddai.

A reliable Sri Lanka Navy source in Colombo confirmed the heavy fighting and that the casualties were high.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are yet to provide details of the battle.
