Sri Lanka Air Force Kfir jets bombed Kandalady village in Vaharai Friday around 10:00 a.m. No casualties were reported although the bombers targeted an area where displaced families from Trincomalee had taken refuge, sources in Vaharai said.

The bombs had hit a coconut farm, the sources added.

Thousands of internally displaced families from Trincomalee district have sought refuge in Vaharai, a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) controlled area, situated 55 km northwest of Batticaloa along Batticaloa- Trincomalee A-15 road, between Trincomalee and Batticaloa in the East.
