Two civilians shot dead in Point Pedro

Two men, a Muslim, and a Tamil were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in two separate instances in Point Pedro and Viyaparimoolai area in Vadmaradchchi north Monday, said civil society sources in Point Pedro.

Gajathu Mohamed Mustafa, 43, of Vinayaga Mudaliyar Road, Point-Pedro, the husband of a Tamil woman, was stopped and shot dead at Oddadi Road in Pt. Pedro around 1:30 p.m. on his way to Pt. Pedro town.

Vairamuthu Nallathamby, 58, a family man of Thunnalai in Vadmaradchchi who had come on personal errand to Viyaparimoolai was shot dead around 3:00 p.m by unidentified men.

The bodies are in Manthikai hospital awaiting post-mortem examinations, hospital sources said.
