Lorry driver shot dead, one injured in Vavuniya

Unidentified armed men stopped a lorry and shot dead the driver and injuring another at Poonthodam in Vavuniya Monday around 10:30 a.m. said Vavuniya police. The injured was rushed to Vavuniya hospital.

The injured was rushed to Vavuniya hospital. The dead man is identified as Prabath Jayasinghe, 28, of Galle, employed at Simpon. Vavuniya police allege that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) pistol group is responsible for this killing.
