Two youths shot dead in Chelvanayagapuram

Bodies of two youths were found at 3rd mile-post, near Chelvanayagapuram, a suburb about 4 k.m. north of Trincomalee, Friday morning. Unidentified armed persons shot the youths dead Thursday night, said residents of the area.

The victims are yet to identified.

The Uppuveli Police rushed to the site and began inquiries, according to sources in the area.

Meanwhile, five Tamil youths have been abducted from Thiriyai, a village about 42 k.m., north of Trincomalee town

They were abducted by unidentified armed persons on October 22 and 23, villagers said.

Thiriyai is a resettled Tamil village after the ceasefire agreement was signed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers in 2002.
