"Civilians are too often the victims"- Britain

"This [Vaharai] incident is not unique in the country’s recent history, but it highlights that civilians are too often the victims of this conflict,“ the British High Commission in Colombo said in a press release issued Wednesday.

BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION COMMENTS ON CIVILIAN DEATHS IN SRI LANKA

On 9 November, a British High Commission Spokesperson said:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in the incident on 8 November in which Sri Lankan armed forces artillery fire killed and injured civilians in eastern Sri Lanka. This incident is not unique in the country’s recent history, but it highlights that civilians are too often the victims of this conflict. “
