Second group Madhu pilgrims leave Trincomalee

The vessel Ocean Green Wednesday morning left Trincomalee harbor with 287 pilgrims, second group of stranded in Madhu church in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) held area in Mannar district since August 11.

About one thousand Jaffna pilgrims had been stranded in Madhu after the conclusion of the annual feast due to closure of all entry and exit points from Madhu church to government controlled areas in the Mannar district.

Still some more pilgrims have been staying in public buildings in Vankalai and Pesalai waiting for their turn to go to Jaffna by ship from Trincomalee.
