Youth shot dead in Vavuniya

Five masked gunmen forced entry into the house of a tamil youth in Thetkilupaikulam in Vavuniya at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday and shot him dead before escaping, sources in Vavuniya said.

The victim was identified as P Jeyapragash, 23.

Jeyaprakash's uncle who was a witness to the killing, in a statement given to the Vavuniya district court judge, Manikavasagar Ilancheliyan, said the gunmen spoke fluent tamil, and since they were wearing black masks, he will not be able to identify the killers, legal sources said.

The Judge directed Vavuniya Police Officer in Charge, Mr Kumara Chandanayake to transfer the body to the relatives after postmortem examinations, and to undertake additional investigations into the killing, sources said.
