Shot men were Tigers - state radio

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), the state run radio, said in its night news bulletin today at 9 p.m.said that the Sri Lankan Navy's gunboats had intercepted two Sea Tiger boats off the Trincomalee harbour.

The Radio said that two Sea Tigers were killed when the SL vessels opened fire on their boats, and that local fishermen found and handed over the bodies to the Sri Lankan Police in Trincomalee.

According to the SLBC, the Sea Tiger boats were from the Kathiraveli coast, 69 kilometers north of Batticaloa. Kathiraveli is controlled by the Liberation Tigers. It is about 12 kilometers north of Vaakarai which was recaptured by the SLA recently.
