Terminate CFA, Buddhist monks demand

Sri Lanka Buddhist Monks' Front Thursday decided to submit a memorandum to Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse demanding termination of the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) signed on 22 February 2002 by then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and V. Pirapaharan, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) before it completes five year-term.

Memorandum will also include the following demands:

• The LTTE should be prohibited in Sri Lanka with immediate effect, and
• The GOSL should take immediate steps to terminate the facilitator role of Norwegians in peace talks between the government and the LTTE.
