Two youths have been abducted by unidentified armed men operating from a white van within the 12 hour period between Friday night and Saturday early morning according to complaints lodged by the relatives at the Jaffna office of Human Rights Commission (HRC).

Kesavan Jeyakumar, 23, was abducted Friday night 11:00 pm on Nallur-Saddanathar road, within Jaffna municipal council area.

In the second incident Iyathurai Rathakrishnan, 28, of Suthumalai, Manipay was abducted early morning at 1:00 a.m.

Although cases of extra judicial arrests, killings and disappearances have escalated in Jaffna Peninsula, and the Sri Lankan armed forces and collaborating paramilitaries are alleged to be behind the disappearances, so far no actions have been taken.
