Black flags were seen flown at the entrance of the university and the surroundings and all the students and staff wore black armbands.

More than hundred students, men and women, from all the faculties participated in the token hunger strike in rotation at the common hall situated in front of the Kailasapathy Hall.

The students carried out the protests without disrupting the normal functioning of the University, student leaders said. i

The protest is to continue for one week, student leaders added.
