2 STF troopers killed, one injured in Kalmunai

Unidentified persons triggered a claymore device Sunday around 8:50 a.m at Pandirippu in Kalmunai police division in Amparai district killing two Special Task Force (STF) troopers and injuring one. The attack targeted the STF road patrol unit. Three civilians were seriously injured in this attack.

The STF trooper was admiited to Kalmunai Base hospital and then taken to Amparai Teaching hospital for further treatment.

The three seriously injured civilians were first rushed to Kalmunai hospital and two of them, in critical condition, were transferred to Batticaloa Teaching hospital.

The bodies of the STF troopers are kept at Kalmunai hospital.

Following the attack, STF troopers assaulted the civilians passing by while all shops closed in a hurry.
