Labourer abducted, killed in Valaichenai

Valaichenai police recovered the body of a labourer Friday morning in front of Peoples' Bank, V. C. road, Valaichenai in Batticaloa district. The labourer left his home to buy provisions in Valaichenai town Thursday around 2:00 p.m and failed to return. Relatives said he was abducted and then killed.

The victim was identified as Vinayagamoorthy Vijayanathan, 30, the father of a child and a resident of Shanmugalingam Road, Karuvakerny, in Valaichenai police division.

Valaichenai police handed over the body to Valaichenai hospital for inquest into death.

Valaichenai is located 27 km north of Batticaloa town.
