SLA cordons, searches VVT, Udupiddy

Following the ambush of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) foot patrol in Sakkotai in Vadamaradchy north on Wednesday, SLA soldiers continued security operations for the second day, cordoning off and searching large areas in Valvettiturai (VVT) and Udupiddy from Thursday morning until noon, sources in Point Pedro said.

SLA soldiers who arrived in Buffel APCs, and soldiers of SLA's field bike units participated in the search.

Vehicular traffic to and from the two areas were suspended during the search, residents said.

No details are available if arrests were made.

Sakkottai, Polykandy, villages located along the northern Vadaramaradchy where the attack took place were searched on Wednesday afternoon following the attack.
