Warning leaflets prompt search operation

[TamilNet, Thursday, 15 October 1998, 20:12 GMT]
The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) cordoned off and searched Gurunagar, a large coastal suburb of Jaffna town this morning. The operation was carried out on the receipt of information that the Liberation Tigers had left a large number of leaflets at the local community centre last night urging the people of Gurunagar to move away from SLA camps located in the area.

No one was arrested in the cordon and search operation said sources.

Gurunagar has been the scene of many amphibious small group attacks by the Liberation Tigers since late last year.

The Liberation Tigers have also warned people in Thenmaradchi to live away from SLA camps.
