Jaffna University students boycott lectures

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 08 May 2007, 00:23 GMT]
Jaffna University students Monday boycotted lectures protesting against unlawful entry by armed men into the campus Saturday morning destroying memorial photographs of students killed in the conflict and stealing the funds raised by students to support the refugees in the east, student union officials said. The boycott will continue through Wednesday, according to student leaders.

Students from all faculties on campus joined the protest.

The Student Union officials in a communique sent to the local media and the acting Vice Chancellor (VC), urged the ampus administration to take immediate steps to increase the campus security and to create a climate conducive to learning.
